I wanted to share my weekend getaway with my fiancé, Rob, (yes, I said fiancé!) and his family to Guntersville State Park. He and his family always enjoy visiting the park from time to time because his sister got married there, so it is very sentimental. Little did I know when they were making plans for all of us to go that it would be sentimental for me as well!
Beautiful views from our balcony!
I was very excited about the relaxing weekend ahead. It’s funny looking back now because I didn’t even pack my cutest outfit, did not have my nails done, and before we changed clothes to go eat the first night there (which was when he proposed) I barely touched up my hair or makeup! I wouldn’t change anything about that day though. It was perfect.
Here’s how it happened:
So, we were heading to eat at the restaurant at the park lodge. All we had to do is walk from our room. We knew we wanted to get pictures because of the beautiful views. Rob’s mom was starting to take pictures of just him and me. After a few pictures, he told me that he had something for me. He handed me a black box. I knew then that this was not an engagement ring because he just handed it to me!
So I open it and it is a bar necklace with my initials that I had actually been wanting. I told him I loved it and then he asked me what it said. I started looking at the initials again and realized that these were not my initials! They were my initials with his last name!
After a few minutes of me being slightly confused and everyone having a quick laugh, he then got down on one knee and proposed! PS… The bar necklace was purchased with the help of my future sister-in- law. She did well!
I don’t want to say that this next part was the best, but it comes pretty close. I look and see Rob’s sweet little nephew (he will be two in October) wearing the cutest shirt that said, “She Says Yes!” It was adorable!
More beautiful views from the rest of the weekend!
